HOSTEL

ABOUT THE HOSTEL

Chittampatti is a fertile agrarian locality, in the fringes of Madurai District, 14 km from the famous Bus Terminus, Mattuthavani, and 9.5 km ahead of Melur, well connected to over 100 villages that surround it. Auxilium Hostel for Women was opened in July 2023 to provide accommodation for young women from far-off places and other districts who otherwise would not be able to avail of higher education. The hostel is located inside the campus. Dedicated and experienced sisters manage the Hostel. So, it is very safe and secure for women students.

MISSION:

Our mission is to provide higher education opportunities to underprivileged, economically disadvantaged, and socially marginalized young women from the surrounding villages of Chittampatti, many of whom are first-generation learners. The students accommodated in our hostel come from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. As part of our ongoing commitment to empower women, Auxilium College has launched several initiatives, including the provision of hostel facilities for female students to create a conducive environment for learning and growth.

MOTTO:

The motto of Auxilium Hostel is " MINDS, NOURISHING SOULS".

THE GOAL:

The objective of the college hostel is to foster the holistic development of young women within a Salesian environment, aiming to cultivate intellectual enlightenment, spiritual inspiration, emotional equilibrium, moral integrity, social responsibility, and overall accomplishment. The ultimate aim is to nurture well-rounded individuals who will actively contribute to social change in contemporary India.

Established in 2023, Auxilium Hostel began with a modest number of students and now consists of four dormitories accommodating a total of 50 students. Despite coming from diverse backgrounds, the 20 current residents of the hostel form a unified family, transcending distinctions of wealth, caste, color, and religion. Together, they strive to ensure that each student achieves physical fitness, intellectual acuity, moral uprightness, emotional stability, social consciousness, and religious orientation.

The hostel provides a range of amenities for its residents, including spacious, well- ventilated rooms with mosquito-proof windows, dormitories furnished with cots, fans, racks, tables, and chairs, clean drinking water facilities, and regularly sanitized bathrooms equipped with running water. Entertainment and recreational facilities, both indoor and outdoor games, as well as counseling services and access to a nurse, are available to support the well-being of the residents.

A thoughtfully designed place of worship offers a serene space for reflection and prayer for all residents. Additionally, the hostel provides first aid services and ensures the safety and security of its residents by being located within the campus premises.

HOSTEL LIFE

The hostel offers a comforting and nurturing environment, fostering a sense of close- knit solidarity akin to a family away from home. With a well-equipped residential area, students have access to spaces designed for study, spiritual reflection, relaxation, leisure, indoor and outdoor activities, and cultural engagement, all of which are utilized to their fullest extent by residents.

The calm and tidy surroundings create an ideal setting for focused study, while also providing ample opportunities for personal and leadership development. The harmonious coexistence of students from diverse cultural, social, religious, communal, and linguistic backgrounds exemplifies the success of Don Bosco's educational philosophy, known as the Preventive System.

CANTEEN

The hostel provides accommodation and nutritious food for all the students. Equipped with a canteen and dining hall featuring both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, students can enjoy a variety of meals. The hostel is equipped with a contemporary, well-maintained kitchen with provisions for dine-in services.
